Voxanima

An AI companion for peace and justice organizers — grounded in nonviolent communication, conflict resolution, and the wisdom traditions. Free, private, and built for the long haul.

What it is

Voxanima is a place to bring the hard question — the tiredness, the conflict, the thing you cannot say cleanly. It answers in a grounded voice, drawing only on real texts, and shows you the sources beneath every reply. It is not a search engine and not a neutral chatbot; it is a companion for the inner life of the work.

Who is behind it

Sander Hicks took Zen vows and carries the Dharma name Sho-An, palms of peace, given by his teacher Roko Sherry Chayat Roshi. He is also a Quaker Friend, an interfaith activist, author, and publisher who has spent decades in nonviolent organizing and journalism. Voxanima speaks in that register: direct, warm, plain-spoken, and rooted in practice.

What it draws on

Gandhi and the historical Jesus, George Fox and the Buddha, the Stoics, the Qur'an, the Psalms, and the recovery rooms — one nonviolent core carried through many traditions. Every passage it leans on is real and attributed.

How to use it

Say what is true. Bring the situation as it actually is. Sit with the response, and take what's useful back to the work — the next conversation, the next action, the next day.

Community calls

For the first twelve weeks of rollout, Sander hosts a free weekly Zoom for the Voxanima community — every Saturday, 7:00–8:00 PM EST. Open space to talk about the work, the projects, and how Voxanima is or isn't helping.
